“Having a child lose their hobby, and for most of them, dreams of becoming a racecar driver is one thing. Losing everything else is entirely another.” —Jen Durrant
While racing is an expensive sport, many in the karting community would more than likely need to quit the sport if faced with an illness, accident or death. And that is where Karting Community United comes in. By offering assistance, as simple as buying a wheelchair to installing a handicap accessible ramp at a house to organizing an event in someone’s honor, KCU hopes to unite the family of karters when one of our karting family members is in need.
I feel as though there would be plenty of people willing to help another family. We spend more time with other racing families during the year than we do with our own extended families. Doesn’t this make us all one big family in the end? —Jen Durrant
There is no set list of items or services provided by Karting Community United. Each emergency, hardship or tragedy is reviewed by KCU, with fund distribution at the discretion of KCU’s volunteer Board of Directors.
“Some people have lots of money to give and others have time…in the end, most people always have something that will help out another person.” —Jen Durrant
